2013-05-20 10:55

During May 20 - 24, 2013, “The International Workshop on Computational and Applied Mathematics” was successfully held at Huangshan International Conference Center, Anhui, China. The annual workshop was organized and sponsored by Beijing Computational Science Research Center, along with the University of Science and Technology of China and the Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science, CAS. The major themes for the workshop this year include: theory and practice on stochastic modeling and simulations, uncertainty quantification, nonlocal problems and computational geometry, etc. Over 40 scholars presented the conference, including Prof. Qiang Du from BCSRC and Penn State University, Prof. Max Gunzburger from Florida State University, Jialin Hong from Institute of Computational Mathematics and Scientific/Engineering Computing, CAS, Falai Chen from USTC and so on.

After an impressive talk introducing the background, objectives, development and plan of BCRSC given by Prof. Qiang Du, the experts carried out an extensive discussion about relative academic issues.

The 5-day workshop provides a platform of academic communication in discussing the recent computational and applied mathematics problems and latest progress. We believe that it promoted the scientific research exchanges and cooperation in the field of computation.
